Prof. Adam C. Watts

MBBS, BSc, FRCS Ed. (Tr and Ortho)
Consultant Elbow and Upper Limb Surgeon, Wrightington Hospital
Visiting Professor, University of Manchester

Adam Watts is a Consultant Orthopaedic Elbow surgeon at Wrightington Hospital and Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester. He trained on fellowship in Adelaide, Australia and Wrightington, UK. His clinical and research interests include the treatment of degenerative joint disease, sports injury and trauma, with a focus on arthroscopic techniques and joint reconstruction. He works with a number of National sporting organisations.  Adam has over 130 publications in upper limb surgery, has contributed to national guidelines on wrist fractures, elbow arthroplasty and infection and is a designer of surgical techniques and implants.  He is a Specialty Editor for the Bone and Joint Journal and Shoulder and Elbow Journal, and sits on the Editorial Board for the National Joint Registry. Adam is an NIHR Grant award holder and a Research Lead at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHSFT.

Adam lives in Lancashire with his family.


Prof. Olivier Verborgt

Prof. Olivier Verborgt is a shoulder surgeon and head of the Orthopedic Center Antwerp (Orthoca) in AZ Monica in Antwerp. After his studies and specialization in orthopedics at the University of Antwerp, he further specialized in shoulder surgery and completed fellowships at Clinique Jouvenet in Paris and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Between 2005 and 2011 he was responsible for shoulder surgery in AZ Sint-Lucas in Bruges. In October 2011 he joined the Orthopedics department of AZ Monica in Antwerp and became a consultant at the University Hospital Antwerp and visiting professor at the University of Antwerp. He is the former president of the Belgian Association for Orthopedics and Traumatology (BVOT). He is a board member of the European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC) and a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) and is active in clinical and basic research on shoulder pathology with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Tom Verhoeven

Tom Verhoeven is a Sports Physical Therapist who after his studies of physical therapy  specialized in Sports Physical Therapy at the University of Gent and at EXOS, former known as Athletes Performance in 1996-1997. After 1,5 year working in Köln and further developing in Orthopaedic lesions he joined the National Judo Team of Belgium as a Physical Therapist traveling the world on tournaments and training camps. In 2003 he joined  RSC Anderlecht in the national football competition which was participating that time in the Champions Laegue. In 2008 he started his own cabinet Motionlab specialized in sports lesions and prevention training. These days he’s combining high performance with the cabinet.

During his career he was attending European, World and Olympic Champions in various sports and was participating 5 Olympic Games, 4 Summer Games (Sidney, Beijing, London, Rio de Janeiro) and 1 Winter Game (Vancouver) where he was attending the skiers.

He’s a member of the medical staff of the Belgian Olympic Committee and of the High Performance Commission of Judo Vlaanderen.

Jill Thomas

BSc(HONS) Physiotherapy, PGCert Inj Ther, MCSP
Specialist Elbow and Shoulder Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner

Jill is based at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit, UK in a well established muti-disciplinary team.  Her passion lies in managing elbow problems, in particular preventing stiffness following trauma, tendinopathy and instability.  She has established a successful tennis and golfers elbow rehabilitation programme.  Jill manages patients with everyday pain that limits their function, through to elite international athletes. 

Jill is actively involved in the education of physiotherapists and surgeons.  She lectures on Masters programmes, and nationally and internationally on courses, she has also established a special interest group for physiotherapists who wished to improve their elbow knowledge and outcomes.  Jill is involved in local and national elbow research projects, her particular research interests being elbow trauma and tendinopathy. 
 

Carl Ekholm 

Senior consultant, Associate professor, Dept Orthopaedics at Sahlgrens’ University Hospital, Sweden, Head of upper limb trauma and arthroplasty. Co-founder of Swedish Fracture Register, Member of AO international faculty. Honorary member of the Swedish Orthopaedic Trauma Society.

Fredrik Isaksson

Till vardags arbetar Fredrik på Capio Movement i Halmstad och hans primära fokus ligger inom axelkirurgins spektra med artroskopiska och öppna axeloperationer. Efter sin fellowship träning under Mr Poon i Auckland, Nya Zeeland, har han fokuserat på att utveckla sig inom proteskirurgin. Han är tacksam för uppbackning av Rolf Norlin och Lima som outtröttligt ställt upp på denna resa.
