Mikael Jansson

Mikael Janson has been Director of the North Sweden European Office since 2011, the EU office in Brussels representing Norrbotten and Västerbotten and since 2020 also Jämtland Härjedalen and Västernorrland, the four northernmost regions of Sweden, constituting half of Sweden’s area with about 10% of its population. Before this he served as City Commissioner in the City of Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, for six years. He has been active for many years in politics in many different political areas on local and regional level. He has also worked as an official in the municipal government and served as acting substitute in the Swedish Parliament. Among many other engagements, he where for several years responsible for the administration and growth actions of a small entrepreneurial firm in battery systems, from its start until becoming leading in its niche in Sweden, delivering to global companies. Janson studied technical engineering in electronics in high school and holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and Communication from the Universities of Gothenburg and Lund in Sweden.
